Featured Charity: The Black Women’s Health Imperative

It’s imperative that we move beyond documenting the enormous health disparities that exist for Black women, and focus our efforts on actionable steps to eliminate them. That’s what the Imperative is making happen.

The (Imperative) is the only national organization advancing the health and wellness of our nation’s Black women and girls.

The Imperative works to eliminate racial and gender-based health inequities and deepen Black women’s resolve in becoming informed decision makers to achieve optimum health and wellness through:

  • Health education
  • Research
  • Leadership development

As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary, our mission remains the same: Advance health equity and social justice for Black women across the lifespan.

Why Giving to the Imperative is So Important

The Black Women’s Health Imperative has impacted and changed the lives of millions of Black women across the nation for the past 30 years. We have also had a profound impact on social justice policies and practices that affect healthcare services and the status of Black women. With a network of more than 50, 000 individual members and partner organizations, we remain the change agents on the ground, in the halls of Congress and in communities that need us most. Your donation ensures the Imperative can continue to advocate for preventive services, policies, and interventions that place priority on the needs and health of poor women and women of color.

Workplace giving is the most important part of our unrestricted funding that helps the Imperative carry out its mission and commitment to improve the lives of Black women and their families.ÌýCompanies of all sizes can establish Workplace Giving programs for employees and enhance that giving through an employer Matching Gift program. For more information contact your Human Resources or Charitable Giving Department to learn more about how your company can setup a Workplace Giving or Matching Donation campaign. If you are a Federal employee, be sure to participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and support the Imperative by pledging your support to CFC#11148.
