Businesses Need to Encourage, Educate Investors on Value of Corporate Philanthropy

During Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy’s annual conference this week, top U.S. CEOs said business leaders should step up to help tackle social problems and educate investors on the value of corporate philanthropy, Reuters reports.

Dozens of corporate CEOs who attended the conference said corporate philanthropy is no longer simply about writing a check but a part of their core business. But while consumers and employees demand companies do their part for society, investors are often cool to the idea. “The reality is that when you look at various companies doing earnings calls and the like, you’re not getting questions around these kinds of topics,” PriceWaterhouseCoopers chair Bob Moritz told Reuters.
